Swipe This Email to Get Great Client Testimonials - When I Grow Up
Swipe This Email to Get Great Client Testimonials - When I Grow Up Youâre doing it. Youâre running a business. My guess is youâre damn good at it, too. You have a stellar company, great clients, a few (or many!) success stories, and might have even made some money, too. Youâre a shiny entrepreneur, new biz-owner or both. Now, itâs time to shout your successes from the rooftops, reel in new clients looking for ya, and legitimize your stellar work. Iâm talking about gathering client testimonials. Testimonials are key, vital pieces to any successful business. They operate as credibility for you and your work. Theyâre social proof of your previous clientsâ results. They pad you with status and expertise. They also tell potential clients why you and your business are/is the right one for them, specifically. Theyâre powerful sales tools and, frankly, you need them. Trust me. There are a few key pieces youâre looking for in a testimonial that will make it strong. Ideally, it will include insight on what brought your clients to you, what they loved most about your work, and the tangible results or payoffs they got out of it. Be direct in what youâre looking for. If you simply ask them for feedback they will never get around to it and/or provide you with generic comments that arenât really useful. Also, be sure to ask for a photo! Anyone scrolling through your site will resonate with the images of other happy clients and see themselves working with you, too. A photo also adds weight and validity to their feedback, essentially saying, âIâm a real person who actually benefited. Hereâs my face to prove it.â Additionally, if your clientâs businesses benefited from your work, ask them to provide relevant links to where you and your followers can find them! This way, you walk away with an awesome shout out and they get your clientsâ eyes on their work, too! Itâs a win-win. If youâre feeling any weirdness about reaching out for praise, first of all â" donât. You earned it. Try putting yourself in your clientâs shoes. If someone did the impeccable work for you that you did for them, wouldnât you be happy to give them a thumbs up? I know you would. Second: You can totally just swipe this email. (It worked great for me!) Have at it! - Hi So and So! I hope this email finds you well! Iâm writing because Iâd like to add testimonials to my website for [insert your business] and loved working with you in the past. Your feedback is particularly special to me because my goal is to attract more awesome clients that are just like you! ( feel free to add details here about your specific work together!) If you have a few moments to answer these questions below regarding [insert your business], I would really appreciate it! Your answers can be as simple or as detailed as you like. This wonât require more than five minutes. Why did you decide to work with me? What was the immediate outcome for you? What have been the longer-term results? (if applicable) Id love to hear anything that stood out for you about our work together, and/or anything you think I did particularly well. Additionally, please attach a photo if possible and include any relevant links where my followers and I can find you! [ if this last piece makes sense for your clientele!] I will be editing any responses down to a few sentences. If you would like me to run your testimonial by you before it goes live, just let me know. Thank you for your time! (Add one more personalized sentence about working together.) Sincerely, YOU Once you have the goods, edit down their responses to the most juicy pieces. Keep it to five sentences or less (since most people scrolling will move on after the first few words anyway). Hot tip: Bold the bits you want to stand out, or even make them the headline! Hereâs an example of one of my personal favorite testimonials from a previous client I worked with named Kate, who completed my Build Your Client Base program. She is an online business manager for creative entrepreneurs who wrote: âI joined Build Your Client Base because I knew that the next step in building my business was learning how to incorporate a solid, sustainable marketing plan. I now have a regular, growing newsletter campaign (plus other fun ways I can regularly get my name out there), a regular roster of clients, and the confidence to know that Iâm finally at the place where I can quit my day job! Iâve loved working not only with Michelle, but also with a supportive, honest group of like-minded women. It has been a tremendous benefit to the growth of my business.â See what Iâm sayinâ? It mentions the specifics about why she chose me as her business coach and how she and her business benefited from working with me. Heart. (Super fun fact â" After launching her incredible business, The Efficient Creative, Kate signed on to project manage When I Grow Up Coach!) Now that you have an idea what youâre looking for, rock that ctrl+c and ctrl+p on the email above and watch the love pour in! Itâs the best, you guys. Really. If youâre looking for more ways to build your client base, Iâve got just the thing.

5 Real Reasons Why You Dont Get Called for an Interview
5 Real Reasons Why You Dont Get Called for an InterviewYouve done everything youre supposed to donetworking, sending in applications, calling in favors, sending out resumesand the phone simply refuses to ring. You havent been asked in for any interviews. This is partially because the markets tough at present, but it could also have something to do with a few things you may be doing wrong. googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display(div-gpt-ad-1467144145037-0) ) Here are the 5 real reasons why you dont get called in for an interview.1. You have a weak resumeEither there is not enough on your resumeyou dont have sufficient experience, or theres too much. Did you dump your entire work and education history into the document, with little care for what sort of picture that laundry list paints? Try culling a bit, shaping the way you lay out your facts.Bottom line put yourself in the hiring managers shoes and imagine your resume in a pile of resumes. Imagine 10 or so identically qualif ied candidates. Will yours stand out among them? Does it stylishly and succinctly show you to be a cut above the rest? If it doesnt, that might be your answer.2. Youre applying for the wrong jobsAre you sending out applications and resumes willy nilly? To any job you see advertised that you think you could have a remote chance of handhabung? Thats probably not the best strategy. Better to do a bit of extra hunting for the positions that are perfect for youand you for them.Be the ideal candidate, not just another faceless grunt who could probably do the job to their satisfaction. Youll feel better going after positions that really excite and challenge you as well.3. Youre using the wrong strategyOnline job boards are a useful resource. But they arent usually enough to turn the corner in a job search. Make sure youre also actively pursuing leads, building your network, calling on your existing connections, finding contact information for the right people and sending them your resume a nd cover letter, maximizing your LinkedIn usage. Make sure you never go more than 30 days without some zugreifbar activity.4. Your hopes are too highHope and high expectations are great. As are you But sometimes the dream job isnt going to happen just now. Sometimes an interim job is just as goodone that wont do any damage to your resume, but will pay your bills. Maybe give up on your desire to be the next big CEO until youre searching from the comfort of already having a job? Its always best to negotiate from a place of power.5. Youre not asking for helpThere is no shame in needing a job. This is what your family and friends (and network) are for. Tell them what youre looking for and ask them to help if they reasonably can. Youd do it for them, after all. And chances are, they will.

7 Steps to Letting Your Parents or In-Laws Move in Without Losing Your Mind
7 Steps to Letting Your Parents or In-Laws Move in Without Losing Your Mind Did you know that one in five American adults are living with their parents or in-laws, and mora than 27 million are living in three-generational households? And heres the kicker its often by choice In fact, there are so many advantages to multigenerational living that until recent history, most families did it.So, if your parents or in-laws are moving in, dont panic. There are a lot of advantages mixed in with the challenges of living with your older relatives. Youll get some free babysitting if you have kids, some financial help if you need it and they can afford it, trustworthy but often unsolicited advice, and sometimes even cooking help and help with other household chores. In addition, to these obvious perks, studies have found that when grandparents are around, children usually do better at school (because there are more adults around to help them with homework), are less likely to be delinquent (there are more eyes to watch them), and less likely to have anxiety problems (more caretakers to step in if you are busy or ill). But living with your parents or in-laws is elend just a family walk in the park. If its your parents who are moving in, they know how to push your buttons (because theyve installed them). If its your in-laws, they have a longer history with your partner than you do and they may flaunt it. And constant company makes it hard elend to feel crowded when you want to be alone. Here are some strategies that can help1. Be realistic. If youve never really gotten along with your parents or in-laws, dont expect anything to suddenly change now. You may be doing the right thing, but if youre all going to be miserable living together, talk together about other options. If there are no other good options, unpack the emotional baggage before moving day. Can you accept them as a package deal? Is it possible to understand what theyre saying and realize that the advice theyre gi ving is about them, not always about you? If the answer is yes, give it a try.2. Try to get to know your parents or your in-laws as people, not just your older relatives. After all, the generation gap in a multigenerational household is gone. We pretty much all hear the same music, watch the same TV shows, go to the movies, and wear the same styles. Your parents or in-laws may be divorcing, dating, dancing, remarrying, texting, shopping online, and working, just like you. Theres no script for adult child-parent relationships anymore. We all have to work it out for ourselves.3. Try to see parents or in-laws moving in as merging households and talk about responsibilities up front sothey are not confused, and youare not resentful.Ask for what you need. Dont expect your mother or mother-in-law to read your mind, or to automatically say yes to whatever you ask of her. If you start with asking what they are offering, the conversation usually goes more smoothly.4. Talk about finances up fro nt, too.The topic is usually emotional, so get it over with before anyone moves in. The majority of multi-generational families are living together because the adult children, not the grandparents, need financial support. But that may not be true in your case. 5. Talk about interests and attitudes you share, and avoid discussion of those you dont. This is also good advice for friendships and marriages. You dont have to agree on politics or religion, you just need to agree to disagree at times. And if you think you absolutely have to say something negative, wait until you have a non-critical suggestion for making it better.6. Tell them up front about topics that make you uncomfortable. If you and your partner are trying to get pregnant, for example, you might want to let them know that you feel upset when you hear about other peoples kids or grandchildren, or about seemingly magical cures for infertility. Make sure you also ask for theirlist of tough topics and steer clear. You may be the younger generation, but sometimes you will need to lead the way.7. Treat your family like your friends. With friends, you probably have more patience and will listen to them much more objectively than you might with someone in the family. Treating your family like your friends just might make multigenerational living easier for everyone.Of course, every family dynamic will be different, so its important to recognize what works for your family might not work for your friends or co-workers. Work towards understanding each other and being upfront about certain situations and topics, and create your own design for living together.

How to Make a Good Career Decision Faster - The Muse
How to Make a Good Career Decision Faster - The MuseHow to Make a Good Career Decision Faster We all like to weigh our options carefully when were making decisions. How many times have you browsed six different sites to find the perfect hotel for your next trip? Or, crowdsourced opinions from four different friends to pick the best outfit for an event? Or, asked 10 different co-workers whether you should, in fact, buchen the noodle bowl from that sketchy restaurant down the street?Theres certainly nothing wrong with this- the more information we have and the more red flags we eliminate, the more likely were going to make a smart decision. But what is wrong is believing that this information will ultimately lead us to the right decision. And thats because theres no such thing. A recent article on Raptitude.com says it well Choices can be well reasoned or poorly reasoned. Their results can be surprisingly beneficial or surprisingly damaging. But theres no such thing as a categorically r ight course of action, just an array of possible ones- and for each, a sprawling, endless web of consequences. The author suggests we look at it from another angle to better understand this Even after weve made a decision- for whatever reason we chose that path- when were living with the consequences, we dont know what the right choice was. All we know is whether we like where we are or dont like where we are. This is such a simple concept, but one we tend to take for granted. Thinking about our decisions from this angle relieves so much of the pressure. When theres not one perfect answer, its a lot harder to go wrong The key to this mindset, the author points out, it to remember that just because there isnt a right decision doesnt mean you cant make one thats wise for your situation. You have every right to choose a hotel thats way out of your price range and infested with cockroaches, but youll probably be a lot happier and have a better trip staying in one thats cleaner and more af fordable. Whichever clean and affordable hotel you choose, however, becomes irrelevant as long as it covers your needs. The point of all this is- as the author astutely states- to let yourself off the hook. Try to get all the facts, but then just take your pick. Stop spending so much time figuring out whether your decisions have hit the mark on the head. This goes for your career, too. Maybe youre easily stressed about taking the right job offer, or deciding whether to quit your job, or if you should pursue your passion. These are big decisions, I wont deny that. But youll never know if theyre the right path until you actually make a decision. You might mess up, you might have to deal with some bigger consequences (both of which are incredible learning experiences), but you might also have made the best decision of your life. And isnt that enough to feel like you did something right?Of course, if decisions arent your forte, this article and this one are great for helping you make the most informed ones you can.
